Apache Pizza
Ireland's largest pizza chain with 160 stores across the Republic and 20 stores in Northern Ireland
The Job
During the Summer of 2022, I worked in the Killorglin branch of Apache Pizza, mainly at the front counter dealing with customer orders. Apache is the busiest takeaway in the town and has an in-store restaurant as well as providing a delivery service.

Specifically, my role involved:
-
Taking orders from customers who visited the restaurant.
-
Answering the phone and taking orders over the phone.
-
Co-ordinating orders that were placed online.
-
Transferring the orders to the kitchen staff and ensuring they had the correct information.
-
Co-ordinating the completed orders and ensuring each customer’s order was correct.
-
Dealing with customer complaints

Skills I learned
-
Working under pressure: There were times when the restaurant was extremely busy with orders constantly being received by phone, online, and in person. It was important to work calmly and efficiently in this environment.
-
Teamworking: I was very much part of a team and I learned the importance of ensuring that other team members such as kitchen staff received what they needed in order to do their jobs.
-
Communication: Dealing with customers over the phone and in person required very clear communication skills
-
Customer service: Whenever customers were unhappy or complained I was the person who dealt with their complaints. I learned the importance of seeing things from the customer's perspective and ensuring that the customer left feeling satisfied.
